You can do without partners, husbands, lovers, children, jobs, and money, so long as you have good friends. It is advisable to try to accumulate the others as you go through life, because then happiness is maximized, but you can do without if you have to.
In the good times friends are fun. They're to laugh with, drink with, eat with and refine ideas with. They're the mini-tribe you set up around you.
In the bad times friends are essential. They take you to hospital, give you a bed for the night, take in your children and lend you money. They listen to you for hours on the phone when you're in distress.
You do the same to them, or should. Be good to your friends and they'll be good to you.
No one's life is so in control that they know what's going to happen next. Aircraft fall out of the sky, tsunamis hit, husbands have heart attacks, children get meningities. Friends turn up trumps.
For the most part friends make you happy. They can also betray you, give you bad advice, lie to you and tell tales about you out of school. They can spread malice and dissent. They can turn out to be still 13 at heart and decide to persecute you.

I love those who're always here with me. Forever showering me with concern about my problem and caring towards my random behavior recently. You guys caught me in time, and you can assure I'll catch you if anything arises.
With Love,MitMit (k).
